The strongest communities invest in themselves.

Ozalla, Obe, and the surrounding Nkanu communities have always had something remarkable: people who care. Organisations that show up. Ozalla Youths in Diaspora (OYD) who have not forgotten where they came from.

The most durable community development happens not when an outside organisation imposes a solution, but when a community’s own institutions are empowered to act on their vision.

Our Community Development work — carried forward under the Ezinne Margaret Nwomeh Community Projects (ECP) — provides direct grants to community organisations already embedded in, and trusted by, the communities they serve.

§ 01 · Unity in Action

A grant that strengthens the institution itself.

Through the Unity in Action Program, the Foundation provides direct grants to community organisations already doing the work of building Ozalla — strengthening the institutions that carry projects forward long after a single grant is spent.

Community awards
From OYD and the Ozalla Forum, in recognition of the Foundation’s work.

Our partnership with Ozalla Youths in Diaspora (OYD) began with a shared vision — education, opportunity, and an Ozalla that offers its young people a real future. That vision led to a grant supporting OYD’s annual summit, which brings together the resources, expertise and commitment of Ozalla’s diaspora community.

The relationship has run in both directions. In recognition of the Foundation’s contributions, OYD presented us with a Community Development Award — an acknowledgment we value all the more because it comes from a partner who has built alongside us, and who understands the work from the inside.

§ 03 · Education Empowerment

40 classrooms, equipped to teach.

In April 2026, PNFUSA partnered with the Ozalla Forum’s 10th Anniversary Committee on an Education Empowerment project. Together, we equipped 40 classrooms across Ozalla with modern whiteboards, markers, and board cleaners — a combined investment of ₦834,000 that put functioning teaching materials into schools that had gone without.

The Ozalla Forum organised the celebration, mobilised the community, and identified the need; PNFUSA brought resources and co-sponsored the educational component. The result was a gift not to the ceremony, but to the schoolchildren who will sit in those rooms long after the anniversary banners come down.

At the same celebration, the Ozalla Forum presented the Foundation with a Community Recognition Award — a formal acknowledgment from the community itself of the Foundation’s contributions to Ozalla’s growth, unity, and development.

§ 04 · Partnership ecosystem

We build alongside, not in parallel.

The Foundation has built alongside the Ozalla Development Union, the Ozalla Youths Forum, the Ozalla Forum, Ozalla Youths in Diaspora, and agencies of the Enugu State Government — ensuring that Foundation-supported initiatives connect to broader community structures rather than running parallel to them.

The Foundation’s name change in 2024 — to The Peter and Margaret Nwomeh Foundation — was itself an act of recognition: that the work was never done by one person, and that the names we carry forward matter. Margaret Nwomeh’s compassion and service are present in every grant this program awards.

§ 05 · Where we are headed

An annual grant cycle for community organisations.

The Foundation intends to develop Unity in Action into an annual grant cycle, inviting applications from community organisations across Ozalla. The 40 classrooms equipped this year will be used for years. We measure our progress not in moments, but in the lives that continue after our part is done.

§ 06 · Support this work

Through unity and action, we build what none of us could alone.

A gift to our Community Development work strengthens the institutions that carry projects forward — community organisations that were here long before any single grant, and that will continue long after it is spent. Donations through PNFUSA are tax-deductible for U.S. donors.
